8th Grade Math

Goals :

Our goal as Math Teachers is to improve our students’ grade level in Math and to prepare them for high school.

Activities/Structures:
  • Math intervention every Friday.
  • Monitor students’ progress by identifying skills they need to improve through I-Ready data.
  • Explicit Teaching about lessons that respond to the need of students; lessons based on curriculum, ANET Exam coverage, I-ready mathematical skills.
  • Implementing I-Ready Blitz and ANET Boost
  • Students usually do mathematical skills in the form of warm-up, review, lecture, classwork and  independent  work/exit ticket and homework
Mastery of Skills:

The skills student master in 8th grade Math are the prerequisites skills they need to deal and cope with high school mathematics. Mastery of the 8th grade skills will increase the probability of success in high school.

Future Effects of Our Work:
  • Our work can improve students’ data scores in math.
  • Our work can produce EMAPS students that are able to think critically and logically.
Most Important Skills to Learn:

Our students will learn to analyze and solve problems on their own by using the CUBE strategy and close reading strategy. Once they listen and learn from instructions, they are ready to solve mathematical problems.
